West Potomac Wins Prestigious Awards for Excellence
Congratulations to West Potomac High School for earning the prestigious 2024 Virginia Board of Education Continuous Improvement Exemplar Award, as well as the Continuous Improvement Graduation and Completion Index and Dropout Rate Exemplar Award! This recognition celebrates West Potomac’s consistent efforts to enhance student achievement over the past three years and reflects West Potomac’s progress in increasing academic performance in reading, math, and science, as well as improving graduation rates and reducing dropout rates. A huge shout-out to our staff, students, and community for their dedication to excellence!
La Liga de West Po, and its founder, Ms. Lodge, proudly accepted the FCPS Excellence Award for Cultural Responsiveness. La Liga is a student-led activity where over 150 Wolverines participate through scheduling games, playing, team captainship, photography and social media, refereeing, and helping their classmates with attendance. Students credit La Liga as a motivator to take care of academic interventions and attendance during advisory, as a community for students who haven’t found one in school, and a way to enjoy the sport and each other in a way they can’t at home.
