Wolverine Athletic Boosters

The Wolverine Athletic Booster Club (WABC) is a volunteer organization made up of parents who give their time, talent, and money to ensure the success of the West Potomac athletic programs. We strive to provide our children with the necessary tools to have a successful and rewarding athletic experience.  We also provide countless volunteer hours. Individuals mow and water the fields, sell tickets and concessions at events, hold team dinners, work as officials and announcers at games, serve on the WABC committees, sell WABC memberships and Christmas trees, and organize food for the pep rally and award dinners. Our total volunteer hours for any given year averages over 7,000 hours.

Fairfax County only provides funding for coaches, transportation, and officials. (Plus a minor amount for athletic trainer supplies and equipment rehab). All other costs such as uniforms, equipment, field maintenance, and meet entry fees must be paid from other funds in the athletic department budget. The WABC directly provides over 43% of this budget. our contribution was $50,000 last year.

The WABC raises about 1/2 of its necessary funds through membership sales and sponsors. This year we will offer four levels of membership; one of which we hope is affordable for all our household.

We always need volunteers for committees so if you are new to the West Potomac community or if you are a seasoned veteran, please consider volunteering to help on one of t. This is an excellent way to meet other parents and, more importantly, help make every athlete’s experience at West Potomac as successful and rewarding as possible.
